HESSTON, IN – Ready for some old-fashioned family fun? Need a relaxing weekend to slow down? Come see how fire works at the Hesston Steam Museum Saturday through Monday, July 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Just minutes from the city’s hustle-bustle and crowded beaches, we have dedicated volunteers firing real steam engines to power passenger train locomotives, a 101-year-old light plant, a working saw mill and antique tractors!

This three-day weekend finds Hesston with TWO BIG ATTRACTIONS:

KIDDIELAND STEAM TRAIN: Hesston is proud to operate a unique bullet nose steam engine, the Kiddieland Limited, which ran for 81 years in Chicago’s Melrose Park. Although adults consider the train a “kiddie” ride, it operates just like a full-sized locomotive. An engineer shovels coal into a firebox to heat water, generate steam and create power.

ANNUAL TRACTOR SHOW: Hesston hosts its annual gas tractor show with tractors of all brands being displayed. Talk to the owners who restore these old machines to brand new condition.

Instead of ear-splitting noises, Hesston Steam Museum visitors can hear some log-splitting noises at Hesston’s steam-powered, turn-of-the-century sawmill, which will run throughout the three-day weekend!

Hesston’s Gift Shop will be open and visitors can buy refreshments or lunch on the grounds. Better still, there’s plenty of room for picnics!

Museum Grounds open at 11:30 and trains run from noon to 5 p.m. CDT. NO admission and free parking!

Train Ride Fares are $3.00 for children and $5.00 for adults.

The Hesston Steam Museum is located east of State Rd. 39 (west of Basswood Rd.) on LaPorte County Rd., 1000 North / From I-94 (Exit 1 Michigan), New Buffalo or Indiana Toll Rd (Exit 49) La Porte.
